Our History

L. M. Gilbert, LLC is a state-certified, full-service remodeling company established in Winter Park in 1982.  We are a very knowledgeable and capable construction team that can complete the job from design to completion.  More than in any other type of construction, planning is crucial before, and especially during, a remodel.  Everyone in the company is involved with the production of the jobs we build, even our office manager is familiar with every job.  L.M. Gilbert delivers professional construction and remodeling services on commercial and residential projects in Orange and surrounding counties of the greater Orlando area.  We specialize in remodeling both commercial and residential structures to barrier-free standards.  We are fully insured, including  General Liability and Workers’ Compensation.

Our respectful, detail-oriented process relies on time-tested approaches that include precise planning, project management, skilled craftsmanship, and close communication with you. From the design through the finishing craftsmanship, our quality work will endure. Our staff members are very polite, skilled and competent.

We are constantly working in occupied buildings, with minimal disruption to the occupants. We know that communication is key.  Before construction, a meeting will be held with you to determine how to best work around you. During construction, advanced notice will be given regarding schedule modifications.

We understand these difficulties and L.M. Gilbert wants to help you make your life a little easier and more productive. L.M. Gilbert can provide home accessibility modifications to enhance and improve the safety of your home. We make it easier to accomplish activities of daily living such as dressing, eating, and bathing. By providing a safer environment, we help prevent accidents to allow greater independence and the ability to live a more comfortable lifestyle. Historic Homes renovations

We have constructed projects in historic areas of Winter Park and Orlando. We are sensitive to the original materials and craftsmanship of historic buildings. We have designed and built in Cherokee Heights in Orlando, and College Quarter in Winter Park. Remember our motto: “Projects should look like we were never there.” Our construction should seamlessly blend with the existing structure.

One of our best-known assets is our ability to solve problems. Most buildings have mistakes and flaws built into them from the beginning. We can spot the problem, correct the design, and make the repair. We find it frustrating to see “repairs” repeating mistakes of the original construction. We won’t allow that to happen.

Lyn Michael Gilbert

The Owner

The owner, Lyn Michael Gilbert, is a Florida State Certified Building Contractor License #CBC059514. Lyn is also a Florida state Certified Home Inspector #H15044 Before moving to the Orlando area, in 1982, Lyn owned and operated a factory where he manufactured educational toys and furnishings. Before that time, he taught architecture and engineering drawing.

Lyn Gilbert has a unique combination of education and site experience. He has a master’s degree in Industrial Art Design, numerous additional courses, and research in building science, including being an E.P.A. Certified Removal and Remediation Renovator. Lyn is certified by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry as a Universal Design Certified Professional. He is also certified by the Home Builders Association as a Certified Aging Place Specialist.

Contractors who have Lyn’s educational qualifications usually do not work in the field. Because he continues to stay involved in job production, he can see actual problems. This enables him to solve the problems with exact solutions. Lyn has over 29 years of experience solving problems relating to existing Central Florida buildings.
